Deposits: We will expect a non-refundable deposit of half the sale price as a commitment to hold your goat. We will not hold any kids from sale until a deposit has been received. The deposit will only be refunded if something bad happens to the goat. It will not be refunded if the buyer backs out of the sale for any reason. We accept:
Personal Check: Must clear the bank before deposit is held.
Cash: If you check them out in person, i will hold a cash deposit for you to go towards the final purchase price at time of pick-up.
PayPal: We accept payments on PayPal. For online deposits, I will send you a PayPal invoice. Once paid, I will mark your goat down as pending. I can do final payment via cash or PayPal.
Waiting list: I have a waiting list available for potential buyers. Contact us for more information.
Bottle babies: We do not have time to raise bottle babies. If you're interested, please contact us now so we have a list of possible homes for these kids before they're born.
Disbudding: We will not disbud any of our kids. Our babies are family raised and we have never had an issue with our goats being aggressive or destructive. If kept in appropriate quarters, we find they mind themselves very well. As an added bonus, bucks get some pretty gnarly looking horns and we prefer the aesthetic.
Linebreeding/inbreeding: We occasionally breed goats that are related to each other. If this is a concern for you, please research the pedigrees of our breeding goats. This is easily done in the Pedigree Database at http://www.myotonicgoatregistry.net/.
No single goat sales unless you already have at least one goat. Goats shouldn't live without a herd - even if it's a herd of two.
Registering: All our breeding goats are purebred and registered with the Myotonic Goat Registry. All kids will come registered with the MGR or with a completed MGR registration application. Timing of kidding, purchasing and receiving registration never seem to align quite right, so i don't want to promise papers in hand at the time you pick up your goat. We are also happy to cooperate with registering any of our goats with a registry other than the MGR.
Degrees of myotonia: Myotonia is impossible to predict. Kids of very stiff parents may lock up rarely and kids of more limber goats may be very stiff. We have extensive purebred pedigrees for most of our adult goats and we've seen them all have myotonic episodes. That's all we can guarantee.
Blue eyes: Eye color can change over time. Blue eyes can become marbled. Marbled blue eyes can have so little blue in them that they appear brown/amber. We make no promises about long-term eye color.
Tameness: Like people, different goats have different personalities. We've selected our breeding stock to be mellow and easy to deal with. We have three kids (human-ones!) that love these little critters and spend as much time as they are allowed in the goat pen, but some kids are friendlier than others. Buyers bear some responsibility for getting the goat adjusted to their new home and attached to their new people.
